Bull Or Bear Market? Try Asking: “Are Stocks Mid Or Late Cycle?”

In this week’s market commentary I’m sharing a video of the quarterly review slide deck that I go over with my clients. I think it has some very important information in it that sheds light on where we are at in the current market cycle and why risks to the stock market are higher than usual.

In short, I am very concerned about what is happening in the markets and believe that there are going to be a lot of retirees that may potentially see another sharp decline in the stock market.

This presentation answers one of the most critical questions in how one should be invested right now:

Are the U.S. markets currently mid-cycle or late cycle (regarding the economy and bull market)?

Instead of trying to express it in words, I am including the presentation below so you can both see and hear what I am thinking. If you have been reading my commentaries here, you know that I am heavy in U.S. treasuries and cash. This posturing stems from my belief that the economy and stocks are in the latter stages of this market cycle. That view has protected my portfolio against significant losses thus far.
